The Mask and Lantern Guild

Page history last edited by Courtney S. 1 yr ago

The Mask & Lantern Guild is a cabal within the Library Society of the World, for people who regularly present at conferences, unconferences, camps, gatherings, etc--and for those who would like to present and wish to learn from more experienced members.

feel free to fill this page with questions, answers, and useful advice on presenting. This can also be a space for people to develop and collaborate on presentations and proposals.

Computers in Libraries 2008

The Call for Speakers at Computers in Libraries 2008 is up (deadline: August 24th, 2007). If you're interested in collaborating on a proposal, put your name here (along with any topics you'd be interested in presenting on):

Joshua Neff (Blogging, Wikis, Open Source Software, Building Communities)

Cindi Trainor (Blogging--how about "rocking your blog 101: how to soup up your blog and get the word out"??, Wikis, interacting with users using 2.0 tools [2.0 evangelism], redesigning spaces for technology/group work, flickr, Encore + Voyager--nextgen OPAC, library/project management, library services for distance/online users, e-networking for n00bs, SecondLife, collaborative professional development)

Joy Weese Moll (the virtual world of professional networking: blogs, twitter, meebo -- could be part of / same as Building Communities? and, I'd really like to be the virtual half, i.e. I'd be in St. Louis networking with other presenter(s) in DC as a silent, but active, partner)

Laura Crossett (using WordPress as a CMS for your library website, would also be happy to help virtually with Joy's topic)

Sara Thompson (all of the above and, most of all, examples of integrating 2.0 tools all together to show how they can all relate to each other -- for example, feeding Flickr tags into Google Reader, which then appears as a widget on a blog, which is linked inside a wiki that also links to a Twitter/Tumblr stream ... and so on; giving a big-picture illustration of how 2.0 tools work together to be useful.)

Internet Librarian 2008

I can't remember who's presenting what, and I have to go to a meeting.  Can someone else fill in the blanks? Thanks! --library_chic
